Getting Creative: Taking Risks on Home Decor

Take a quick look around the house. How long has the color been the same on the wall? When was the last time that the pictures were changed? It easy to leave things be, especially if it takes a lot of time and money to make a change. But there comes a time when the same old decor just isn’t cutting it and a fresh, new look is needed. If an entire room makeover isn’t in the budget, here are a couple of ways to take a risk on home decor that are simple and inexpensive.

Wall Decals

In the simplest of terms, wall decals are stickers for the wall. They don’t damage the surface but they can completely transform the look of a room. From quotes and sayings to beautiful color pictures, there are tons of options to choose from. Decals can personalize the space while adding a little more interest to the area. The best part? If the decals don’t look great in a certain place, just peel them off and stick them somewhere else.

Throw Pillows

Whether the change needs to take place in the bedroom or the family room, throw pillows are a great way to bring in a pop of color and texture to a dull space. If the area is already a little bland, try to skip over the traditional square throw pillows. Instead, look for different shapes and sizes that will add interest to the room. This is a great opportunity to take some chances. Go with bolder colors. Go with something outrageous. Pillows can actually make a huge difference in a single room.

Frames

Photographs and pictures are something commonly found in just about every space in a house. The hallways are often lined with them. What types of frames are currently hanging on the walls or resting on the furniture? If black and brown wood is the answer, it’s time to try something new. Frames are a great way to bring in color without requiring a lot of money. Change one at a time or all the frames in the room at one time, depending on the budget. Look for unique frames. Much like pillows, this is an opportunity to bring in color and texture. For more tips of colors and home decor, check out http://www.woodenflamingo.com.
